New Grade...New Subject

Hello, hello, hello!

Hello and how are you?

I have been busy getting ready for a new school year. I will be teaching third grade ELA. I must say that at first I was nervous, because I have never taught third grade ELA. I have taught science and math. In science, I did use strategies from ELA. 

To help me out, I have been stalking viewing other teacher blogs to see how they teach ELA. I have found some really good posts and resources that will help me out. Be looking for a post about the resources I bought, soon.

I am excited to join this world of blogging, and I have lots of ideas. I currently teach kindergarten in Shreveport, LA. I've taught for about 3 years, so this is still pretty new for me. I love teaching. It makes me feel like I am doing something positive in the world. It's that moment when a student brings you their work that they have done all by themselves and you see the excitement for learning in their eyes, that you truly understand your job is very important.

Name: Shanita but everyone calls me Nita (You can too!)

Grades Taught: Kindergarten, 3rd

But I am a mother, so I feel that I've taught every grade up to 4th :)

Personal: I am married and have 2 little girls

(I have another blog about my family.)

Hobbies: Cooking, Sewing, Reading, enjoying family time, and making learning material for my daughters
